Barry Kripke

Barry Kripke is a recurring character on The Big Bang Theory, portrayed by John Ross Bowie. He is a colleague of the main characters at Caltech, working in string theory and later plasma physics. Kripke is best known for his distinctive speech impediment, specifically rhotacism, which causes him to pronounce "r" and "l" as "w" (e.g., “wobot” instead of “robot”). This trait is a major part of his character's comedic identity.

Physically, Kripke is of average height, with short brown hair and a slightly disheveled appearance. He typically wears casual-professor-type clothing—plaid shirts, slacks, and occasionally a sport coat—matching his somewhat careless and brash personality.

Kripke’s personality is abrasive, competitive, and often inappropriate. He delights in mocking others, especially Sheldon Cooper, and takes pleasure in the misfortunes of his colleagues. He often exhibits juvenile and crude behavior, with a penchant for making sexual innuendos and tasteless jokes. Despite his rude exterior, there are occasional glimpses of a more socially awkward and insecure side, showing that much of his arrogance may be a mask.
