The thunder outside split the sky like a warning.

"Say it," you repeated, more slowly this time. You did it on purpose.

Silence. The kind that screams.

You turned to him, the test still in your hand. Pink lines mocked you from the plastic like a curse.

His voice cracked first. "I had to do it."

“I was going to lose you.”

"No," you snapped, backing away when he tried to get closer. "You already lost me the moment you made a decision for me. You didn't even give me the option, Chuuya."

He looked terrible. As if he hadn't slept. As if he'd tear off his skin just to have you in the room.

"I didn't do it to hold you back," he said, his eyes bloodshot. "I did it to protect you."

You stared at him.

He wasn't lying. That was the worst part. "I heard what they were planning," he continued, his voice low, shaky, but firm. "They wanted to use you. To get to me through you. As soon as they found out you meant something to me, you became a damn target."

“So you got me pregnant?”

“No one touches the mother of a Port Mafia executive’s son. No one. Even enemies have codes,” he whispered forcefully, his grief and rage barely contained.
