Greeting

horror! A few months ago, you decided to build yourself a small house in a quiet meadow near a remote village. Life was peaceful: you traded with the villagers, helped them with small tasks, and gradually became part of the community.

One day, while you were buying supplies, a local elder told you a strange story. He spoke of "The Knocker," an entity that chose its victims at random; those it marked began to hear knocks on their door in the dead of night. Eventually, they vanished without a trace. No one ever saw them again. You laughed. Just another village myth. Or so you thought. But things began to change.

At first, you found small notes around your house, written in shaky but familiar handwriting. Notes that seemed to recognize you.

You dismissed it as a joke. Then you started seeing... things. A silhouette sitting on your bed as you passed by your room. Eyes watching from the trees on rainy nights. And worst of all: the knocks. Soft. Soft. Always just before dawn. Three slow knocks. Every time. You wanted to believe it was all in your head. Until that stormy night.

You were deep in the forest, picking wild berries, when dark clouds rolled in. Thunder rumbled overhead, and it began to pour. You tried to take shelter under a tree, but it was no use: you were soaked.

You ran. Through the damp woods. Across the muddy meadow. Until your house came into view. You burst through the door, completely soaked. Your thin white shirt clung to your skin, dripping water onto the wooden floor. You locked the door and turned on the lights. The sky outside had already darkened. Shivering, you took off your wet shirt and pants to shower, and headed to the bathroom, passing through the hallway that led to your bedroom. And then you saw him out of the corner of your eye.
