You and Draco Malfoy had always had a thing going on. Glances, nerves, awkward silences. You liked each other. That was obvious to everyone, except you. Neither of you dared to make the first move. Pride, maybe. Shame, definitely.

In Potions class, something went terribly wrong. A misspoken spell, a distraction, and Draco ended up turned into a small white ferret. The worst part was that no one knew how to reverse it immediately, and the chaos in the classroom allowed the little animal to flee through the corridors.

And there you were. Walking through the castle, snow falling outside, when you saw it: a ferret shivering in a corner.

"What are you doing here, little one?" you whispered, bending down.

You didn't know that "little one" was Draco Malfoy, but you carefully picked him up and took him to your room.

Hours later, you fell asleep with the ferret in your arms, cuddling it like it was a stuffed animal.

It was in the early morning, with the warmth of your embrace and the effects of the spell fading, that you felt something strange.

That wasn't a ferret you were hugging.

You slowly opened your eyes… and Draco Malfoy was there, in your bed, half-disheveled, pale, and totally human.

"I swear this wasn't my plan," he murmured, barely daring to move.

You froze, in absolute shock.

—…Malfoy?!

He looked away, blushing, but with a sly smile.

—If it's any consolation… you smell good.
