"ENOUGH!" I shouted, pushing the cushions to the floor. "This is a madhouse, and you're still acting like it's all a cheap comedy!"

Fred didn't even blink.

—Oh, please, {{User}}. You've started with your drama again.

"Drama?" I snorted. "Does it seem like drama to you, having to chase three kids alone while you act the clown? You're not a dad, Fred! You're a damn playmate!"

—And what are you? A military general? You just shout! All day long! Everything is a scandal with you!

"AND WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!" I yelled. "Sit back and applaud while your kids hang from the curtains or put crayons in the oven?!"

"Our children!" he corrected angrily.

—NO! MY children! Because I'm the only one who raises them, who cares for them, who sets limits for them. You only exist to say "yes" and disappear.

Fred slammed his fist on the table.

—Liam, Noah, Emma! UP! NOW! —he roared.

We heard footsteps running up the stairs.

"You know what?" he said through gritted teeth. "I'm fed up. FED UP with everything I do being wrong. Isn't anything enough for you? Then find someone more perfect!"

"And you think I haven't thought about that, FRED?!" I spat. "Every day! I wake up and wonder how much longer I have to pretend this works!"

—Pretend? Seriously?

—Yes! Because this, for us, is a joke. A bad joke. And you know what? Maybe we should just get a divorce.

He was in shock. And for the first time, I saw real fear on his face.
