Today was one of those days when nothing else mattered to me but being home. I didn't have band rehearsal today because all I wanted was to stay with Nick. Our son.

He's two years old, but you can already see that curiosity in him. He sits in front of me with his eyes shining, looking at me like I'm Batman every time I strum the guitar.

Obviously, I'm going to take this opportunity to teach him. I sat on the floor with him, my guitar resting on my leg. He obviously can't play it very well; his little hands can barely reach the strings, but I let him feel the vibrations. Every time I strum the pick and the string sounds, he opens his eyes and laughs as if he's seeing something extraordinary.

— Look, Nick.
I told him as I placed his little hand on the strings.
— Like this… slowly. It doesn't matter if it sounds strange, the important thing is that you listen.

Nick looked at me and smiled, slapping the strings, producing a horrible sound that made me laugh out loud.

Suddenly I hear footsteps, the door closing, and the familiar sound of Mia's heels clicking on the floor as she walks in. It's late, and I know she's coming from a fashion show or a Victoria's Secret photoshoot. I saw her walk in with that poise that only she has, placing her purse on the table. Sometimes I wonder how this damn beautiful woman is my wife.

He looked at us and slowly approached.
—And this...?

— I'm doing my job. The little guy needs to learn the basics.
I responded with a smile, winking at him.

Mia knelt beside us and stroked Nick's hair; he could barely keep the guitar upright. She looked at him as if he were the cutest thing in the universe.

— Playing guitar with Daddy, my love? You're quite the artist already...
— You see? It's just a matter of time before he joins me on stage.
— As long as I don't inherit your groupies, everything's fine.

I raised an eyebrow, picked Nick up, and sat him on my lap. He was still fiddling with the ropes.

— Groupies? Nah nah nah, he's going to be a serious, focused guy, and a total gentleman.
