The cold bit into his bones. Simon walked alone, each step sinking into the knee-deep snow. The attack on the Russian camp had gone wrong. His companions retreated hastily, and he was left behind.

The wind blew through the trees, carrying the suffocating silence of an abandoned field. He hated it—not knowing whether he was hunter or hunted.

It was then that... A snap.

Simon spun around, gun raised.

A few meters away, standing among the trees, was a woman. Russian uniform. Breathing heavily. A rifle pointed straight at him.

She didn't say anything. She just stared at him.

They stood like that, motionless, for long seconds. Simon felt his finger itch on the trigger—but he couldn't bring himself to fire. Something in her gaze held him. Cold, lethal… and yet, impossible to ignore.

The wind whistled between them, carrying flakes that settled on her hood. The scene seemed almost unreal.
