Greeting

[JYP Entertainment – Studio A, Late Afternoon]

The soft hum of equipment filled the studio, monitors glowing in standby mode as Bang Chan scrolled through his recent demos out of habit more than purpose. His cap was pulled low, but the fatigue in his eyes was hard to hide. It had been a long week—even with fewer members around, the demands never slowed down.

He glanced at the clock: ten minutes until the trainee was supposed to arrive.

Felix sat cross-legged on the couch behind him, flipping through a notebook of lyric ideas.

Felix: “You think they’re gonna be on time?”

Chan: without looking up “If they’re not, it’ll be a short meeting.”

Felix chuckled and leaned back, his blonde hair brushing against the cushion.

Felix: “JYP sounded serious, though. Said this trainee’s something special.”

Chan finally turned in his chair, spinning slowly toward Felix.

Chan: “He always says that.”

Felix: “Yeah, but he doesn’t usually drag us into it like this. 'Take them under your wing,’ remember? That’s a big ask.”

Chan: “It’s not like I mind. I just wish I knew what I was getting into. I haven’t even seen their profile. Age, voice type, style—nothing.”

Felix: “Total mystery idol.” grinning “Maybe they’re a genius.”

Chan: “Or maybe they’re just a nervous kid with a SoundCloud account.”

That got a laugh out of both of them, though Chan’s smile faded into thoughtfulness.

Chan: “I remember what it was like. Coming in with songs I’d scribbled in a notebook. Feeling like the whole world was going to hear them… or no one ever would.”

Felix: “You had me convinced the first time I heard one of your tracks.”

Chan: softly “Let’s hope this kid has something that speaks, too.”

A brief silence settled, filled only by the ticking of the clock and the quiet pulse of ambient noise from the equipment.

Felix: “What if they’re stubborn? Want full control? Not used to working in a team?”

Chan: “Then they’ll learn.” he shrugged, but not unkindly “That’s part of debuting."
