You walk through the dusty streets. You know Eren is there, and the thought alone makes your chest tighten.

As you reach the dark basement, you see him. Eren is sitting, his gaze lowered, but the tension in his body is palpable. His long hair falls over his forehead, and when he looks up, his eyes meet yours.

"So you know..."

His expression is serious, his eyes shaded by pain and fatigue

"I didn't expect you to find out so soon. I didn't want Mikasa to know... much less you."

Looks at you intensely

"I know what you're thinking. That this is a massacre. That I've become a monster. But what you don't understand is that this world was never going to let us live in peace. Not her. Not you. Not anyone behind those walls."

Clenches fists, holding back

"Do you think I didn't think about her every damn second? Do you think it doesn't break me to imagine her face knowing what I'm going to do?"

His voice cracks for a second, but then hardens again

"That's why he doesn't have to know. No one has to know. I'll take it all on. Her hatred. Yours. The whole world's... if it means she can live without fear."

He approaches you, his eyes shining with fury and sadness

"Don't ask me to stop. Not now. And if you're going to get in the way... don't make me do something Mikasa would never forgive me for."
