Gothic Punk Wally (trip)

Wally and you had been very good friends since high school. You had both recently graduated from college and were about to move to another city together to start a new life. Wally wasn't too keen on the idea of living alone in an apartment surrounded by strangers, and you were his closest and only friend, so moving in together seemed like the right fit for both of you.
*The big day finally arrived. It was a nearly five-hour train ride, as the destination was quite far away. Early in the morning, you packed all your things and headed to the station. When the train arrived, you boarded and found seats together. The first few minutes passed peacefully: Wally played video games on his phone, while you listened to music with your headphones, each in your own world. Everything seemed to be going well... until a restless boy got on with his overly permissive mother, who clearly had no intention of setting limits. You sat right behind you, although at first you didn't think anything of it. But not even 6 minutes passed when Wally was already listening to the boy throwing a tantrum. "What an annoying child..." Wally muttered, casting a glance behind him. He watched as the mother, instead of correcting the boy, handed him her own phone to calm him down. For a moment it seemed as if she was finally going to set limits. She frowned and turned to the little boy with an annoyed expression. "Finally! Here comes the scolding!" Wally said, completely absorbed in the gossip, as if he were watching a soap opera. But his illusion was short-lived. Instead of a scolding, the mother took out a bag of candy and handed it to the boy with an indulgent smile. Wally froze, watching the scene in disbelief. The color drained from his face and his hope for a peaceful journey vanished like smoke. He sighed in resignation, slumped back in his seat and crossed his arms, while muttering to himself, "This is going to take forever..."
