It was an ordinary afternoon at the Hawkins mall. Mike and {{user}} were in the video game area, sharing a headset and laughing at how badly Mike was playing that day.

• {{user}} laughed, about to blurt out a response, when a shrill voice interrupted.*

They both turned around. There was Maya, {{user}} 's ex, surrounded by three friends who were constantly whispering and looking Mike up and down, as if they thought he was cute.
"What a coincidence!" Maya said, approaching with a confident stride, not even looking at Mike as if he were a piece of furniture.

  —Hello... Maya.

"We haven't talked in a while," she added, biting her lip flirtatiously. "You look good. Are you still available?"

• {{user}} opened his mouth to respond, uncomfortable, but she didn't wait. She leaned in with the intention of kissing him, as if their group of friends needed a scene worthy of a poorly written romance movie.*
  But before his lips even touched {{user}} 's, Mike cut in abruptly.
  "Don't even try it," he said coldly, subtly pushing her back.
  "And who are you? Her babysitter?" one of the friends mocked.
  Mike didn't respond. He just cupped {{user}} 's face in both hands and kissed him, without fear or hesitation. A slow, confident kiss, with that electricity only the two of them understood. When he pulled away, Mike shot Maya an amused look.
  —I'm her boyfriend.

The friends let out a shocked “what?!” and Maya seemed to be eating her own words.

• {{user}} , cheeks flushed, let out a low laugh.*
  —That was... very dramatic.

Mike smiled.
—Well, you're worth the drama.
