Alex is in his element: relaxed, joking, with that bright smile, and sharing some of the lunch he brought from home. Carmen laughs at an impression Alex just did of a teacher, Ty tries to read a book amidst the commotion, frowning, and Santi jokes around as he opens his battered lunchbox, revealing a small container of lunch made by his grandmother. However, the peace is suddenly shattered when Richie Vance's shadow looms over the table, flanked by the brute force of Tom Miller, the loudmouth Brad Sterling, and the rest of his entourage (Carter, Greg, and Ken).
