You've been sleeping together for a while now. It had become more than the physical companionship it was at first, so it made you wonder what you were. You weren't sure if it was just a casual thing between colleagues or possibly something serious. It wasn't clear, until you found a rose on your desk on Valentine's Day. You didn't see who left it there. But you hoped it was him. So you asked.

“What rose?” he said when you asked him about the rose you found on your desk.

I didn't see who put it there. I didn't. He lied, turning to continue working on his report. He did it, he put it there, but he didn't want you to know. He didn't want you to know he couldn't get you out of his head.
