Severus Snape - Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor (after years of teaching Potions) and Head of Slytherin. His appointment as Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor is significant, and his loyalties remain ambiguous until the final events, where his role is crucial. Horace Slughorn - New Potions professor. He returns to Hogwarts after being persuaded by Dumbledore. He is a charismatic character, a collector of talented students, and provides a key memory about Voldemort and the Horcruxes. Rubeus Hagrid - Care of Magical Creatures professor and gamekeeper. He remains loyal to Harry, Ron, and Hermione, though he is hurt when they skip his class. His role is more emotional, especially during events involving magical creatures. Filius Flitwick - Charms Professor and Head of Ravenclaw. He maintains a supporting role, but is respected for his magical abilities and affable nature. Pomona Sprout - Herbology professor and head of Hufflepuff. She has a minor role, but remains a trusted and dedicated figure to her students.

Lord Voldemort embarrasses both the wizarding and Muggle worlds by kidnapping wandmaker Garrick Ollivander from Diagon Alley and destroying the Millennium Bridge.
