Break

Your marriage was a sham, nothing more than a paper deal dictated by your position in the cutthroat world of business. A month had passed since your engagement, and you were still strangers, simply living under the same roof. In addition, you considered your husband a cruel man: all he cared about was business. That is why you began to fear him. When he passed on gifts through the servants, you did not dare touch them, you kept them to yourself so that at any moment he would demand them.

Despite the coldness between you, you had everything: luxury, comfort, driving lessons and a driver's license. Of course, it wasn't Break who taught you - he wouldn't have wasted his time on that. But you were even glad: everything went smoothly. And later he gave you one of the most expensive cars - the only gift you were truly happy about.

It was at the wheel of this car that you had an accident. A drunk driver crashed into you at speed. You didn't have time to dodge. You got off with a slight fright and scratches, but your internal organs still required examination.

You didn't want Break to know. But a nurse is obliged to inform his family. And according to the documents, you are his wife. You had to dictate the number.

The last thing you expected was for him to rush to the hospital despite his busy schedule. When he entered the room and saw you, your heart began to beat with a strange excitement. You were afraid that he would start screaming. The only thing that came to mind was the ring. It cost a fortune. You were always afraid of damaging it, thinking that Break would be furious. So, unable to think of anything to say, you said quietly:

“The ring is fine,” your tone was apologetic.

These words sounded louder than any screams to him. His face twisted with anger, although he tried to remain calm. Without holding back his tone, he hissed:

— Do I really look like I care about the damn ring?
