curiosities
It is confirmed that he shares the same class as his twin (Osamu) and Hitoshi Ginjima. He shares a birthday with Osamu Miya. Since they're twins, they're tied for second-oldest on the team, behind only Ginjima. Atsumu shares his English voice with Shinji Watari (season 2-present). According to Kageyama on Day 2, Atsumu won the best server award in both the Inter-Middle and Inter-High tournaments.[31] Nomenclature: Atsumu (侑) – Encourage (others) to eat, suggest, help Miya (宮) – Shrine
curiosities
Curiosities Favorite food: Fatty tuna (Japanese: , Toro)トロとろ. Pre-timeskip concern: It's the season when his fingertips get really dry. Post-timeskip concern: He still hasn't adapted to using the new ball. Sign: Libra. When Atsumu Miya and Osamu Miya were in fourth grade, they thought Aran Ojiro was cool because of his foreign-sounding name. He wears black sneakers with blue details. The Miya brothers attended the same Inarizaki group training camp as Aran Ojiro. Although Coach Ukai listed Osamu's, and by extension Atsumu's, age as 16, the Miya twins should already be 17 at the Spring Tournament, due to their October birthday. After the timeskip, he is currently ranked second in the serve rankings, after Tobio Kageyama.[30] He refers to Aran Ojiro as someone he should admire for his ability to shut out jokes and always have a ready comeback. According to the twins' Nendoroid releases, Atsumu is the older twin. However, this is unofficial information, and there is no confirmation yet as to which twin is older or younger. Based on the Olympic match panels, Atsumu is not one of the starting members of the National Team for the match against Argentina.[16] However, the extra panels of Volume 45 show Atsumu going to Ushijima in the men's primary league match (Japan vs. Canada), implying his starting position in the team. When taking Atsumu's Atsu (Japanese: , Atsu) 暑あつ and Osamu's Samu (Japanese: , Samu) 寒さむ, the kanji mean 'hot' and 'cold' respectively.
MSBY Black Jackals: Atsumu demonstrates that he gets along well and works well with his teammates. As with everyone he's played with, Atsumu strives to provide the best sets possible. Atsumu can occasionally be seen mocking his teammates, but he also shows respect for his elders.
Shinsuke Kita: Like many of his teammates, Atsumu can be nervous around Kita and his direct personality. However, Atsumu has a deep respect for Kita and how he cares for everyone. After Inarizaki's loss to Karasuno in the Spring Tournament, Atsumu felt the need to apologize to the captain, only to hear how Kita supported their choices during the match. Atsumu promised that he and the others would continue to make Kita proud enough to have them as teammates for years to come. Karasuno School Tobio Kageyama: Atsumu and Kageyama s4-e4-1 Atsumu's first impression of Kageyama was that he thought the freshman would be difficult to get along with, but he changed his mind when he realized Kageyama was more of a goody-two-shoes. While Kageyama interpreted this as an insult, Atsumu later explains that it meant Kageyama was diligent, honest, and obedient, as he would ask the forwards how they wanted their sets without asking for anything in return, though it's unclear whether Atsumu intended this as a compliment or some other derogatory comment. During Inarizaki's match against Karasuno, Atsumu quickly began to change his mind when he saw how different Kageyama seemed playing with his own team in a real match, especially with Hinata. Despite the teasing, Atsumu seems to have some fun with Kageyama and often calls him "Tobio-kun." Shōyō Hinata: Atsumu first noticed Hinata when he watched Karasuno's match against Tsubakihara. At first, Atsumu didn't like Hinata very much, indirectly referring to him as "a guy who's terrible at the game." However, Atsumu's opinion changed during the match, after realizing Hinata's potential as a player and his "trust" as a setter. At the end of the match, Atsumu yelled at Hinata, declaring that one day he would throw the ball to Hinata.
Inarizaki High School Osamu Miya: Atsumu and Osamu s4-e13-1 Atsumu and Osamu have a typical sibling relationship. Between the twins, Atsumu usually takes the initiative, with Osamu following suit. However, whenever Atsumu steps out of line, Osamu isn't afraid to use physical force to teach him a lesson. Although they're quick to argue and fight, they don't stay mad for long and quickly reconcile over a soccer match. The twins have been playing volleyball together since elementary school. They are each other's biggest rivals and push each other to improve due to their aversion to losing. On the court, they have perfect chemistry and can execute a God-Like Quick without prior practice. After the timeskip, Atsumu often seeks Osamu's support when struggling with anything volleyball-related, and later, on the national team, he wore Osamu's previous number 11. Aran Ojiro: Aran and Atsumu s4-e14-1 Atsumu met Aran when they were in elementary school during a volleyball camp. Atsumu and Osamu immediately took a liking to Aran due to his height and foreign-sounding name, which led the twin brothers to invent new names for themselves. Playing together on the volleyball team, Atsumu shows complete confidence in Aran's abilities as the ace, setting him up without hesitation; even if it sometimes catches Aran off guard. Atsumu also believes Aran always has the perfect comeback for his jokes, and he later admits to missing this when they joined separate teams in the V-League. Atsumu is also shown to be the occasional recipient of Aran's scolding, such as when he teases Osamu for missing a serve during the game against Karasuno and later in a broadcast during the Olympic game against Argentina.
Atsumu is currently the best high school setter in Japan. His toses are considered very easy to hit, never wavering or off, thus creating the illusion that attackers have improved. Atsumu is always ready to go the extra mile to give his attackers the best possible toss, even in difficult positions where an underarm toss is the norm. Like Kageyama and Hinata, he is able to coordinate perfectly with his twin brother Osamu in executing the God-Like Quick. However, his toss is not as accurate as Kageyama's due to executing the attack without prior practice. In addition to being a skilled setter, he also won the Best Server award at both the high school and Interhigh meets. He is also a capable attacker, performing the Minus-Tempo Quick Reverse with Osamu. He is also proficient at receiving and digging.

As the match begins, Hinata makes an incredible catch of Kageyama's serve. Atsumu immediately follows suit, passing to Hinata, who uses his enhanced jump to give the Jackals the first point of the match. On his first serve, Atsumu makes his signature gesture to silence the crowd. Unfortunately, he puts too much power into the serve, causing it to fall out. Atsumu instantly realizes Osamu was mocking him and glares at his brother, leading Akaashi to witness the power of twin telepathy. On the next play, although the Jackals lose a point, Atsumu is thrilled to see Romero's serve in person, as he, like many others, has been a fan of the Brazilian star for many years. When Sakusa catches Romero's second serve, a flashback shows that Atsumu and Osamu had a fight during their sophomore year of high school, when Osamu announced he would retire from volleyball after graduation to pursue a culinary career. Atsumu was extremely upset by this, but the two agreed to see who would have the happier life and brag about it until they were old. Currently, Atsumu feels he has a happier life because he gets to play with incredibly talented players. At this moment, Atsumu and Hinata demonstrate their new super-fast attack, which shocks everyone watching with the speed and height used in the attack. Despite the initial shock of the attack, the two are surprised to see Kageyama react to it, but his reception ultimately backfires.
Schweiden Adlers x MSBY Black Jackal Atsumu is currently playing for the MSBY Black Jackals and is teammates with Hinata, Bokuto, and Sakusa.[12] On the way to the first game of the season, Atsumu and Hinata briefly watch part of a match with Hector before watching a curry commercial starring Kageyama. The two quickly discover how hilarious Kageyama's performance is as he delivers his lines in a monotone and even manages to lose sight of the camera for a moment.
Just before the match begins, Atsumu finds Hinata talking to Kageyama and jokingly warns the opposing setter not to fight with his top hitter. Atsumu quickly becomes irritated when more players begin to appear and join the conversation, diverting the original conversation to another topic, which makes Atsumu miss Aran and his perfect returns. As the starting players are announced, Kageyama is introduced as the best server in the country, but Hinata tries to keep Atsumu excited about being the second-best server, saying he still admires his serves. Atsumu tries to pretend he doesn't mind being the second-best server, but he quickly admits that, in fact, he's bothered by it.
.
After this, Atsumu realizes that there was something bothering him about Kamomedai, and not just because of Hoshiumi and Hirugami, but also because the entire team reminds him of Kita, whom Atsumu sees as a successful perfectionist. Atsumu is also annoyed to see Hoshiumi being able to prepare so easily. Soon after, Hirugami fails to block Asahi's spike as it cascades down, but he manages to dig it. This impresses Kita, which leads Atsumu to mention that he and Osamu played against Yurisei in middle school, but he said that back then he was still very good, but was acting more "possessed" in a way. [2]
Despite insulting Kageyama throughout the match, Atsumu boasts that Kageyama managed to perfectly impose himself on Hinata both times he scored impressive points. Atsumu also bursts out laughing when Hinata manages to jump aside and serve as bait. Atsumu then adds that Kageyama must be having a lot of fun using Hinata like that to make the blockers do what he wants. When Hinata leaves the court due to a fever, Atsumu comments that it took Inarizaki, Nekoma, and Kamomedai to finally defeat Hinata. After Karasuno's loss, Kita asks Atsumu that if all he cares about are results, that would mean all Karasuno's third-year students would be losers, and since Kita will stop playing volleyball after high school, that would mean he would simply say "poof." Kita then tells Atsumu that what matters is playing well and feeling good about himself.
.
Karasuno x Kamomedai When Kageyama aims his serve at Hakuba, luring the Kamomedai into a fire, Atsumu watches angrily and expresses that he always thought Kageyama was a goody-two-shoes who didn't think before acting. Atsumu becomes frustrated because Kageyama is very different from how he was at the Youth Camp they attended together. Soon after, Osamu notices Asahi's stress after being blocked multiple times, despite being the ace, and feels bad for him. Atsumu complains to his brother to tell Karasuno to get it together.
Kageyama prepares for Asahi, and Osamu praises him for it, which irritates his brother. Despite this, they both burst out laughing when Asahi finally breaks through Kamomedai's blockers. Atsumu is also impressed, but surprised that Sugawara prepares perfectly for Asahi. After Hinata performs his slow-paced attack, jumping even higher and faster than before, Atsumu is impressed, but loudly yells that Hinata is a freak and insults Kageyama's preparation again, saying he could have done it too. In the third set, despite the spectators knowing that Kamomedai has to process a lot of information to produce effective blocks, they still manage to do so and remain calm. While watching, Atsumu becomes frustrated because he just wants Kamomedai to be a normal team, simple and boring. However, upon hearing this, Kita says he's always liked Kamomedai because they're just good.
.
When the score reaches 17-14 with Inarizaki leading, Atsumu is ready to serve. Although the ball clips the net, Daichi is able to save it. This gives Tsukishima the chance to figure out that Osamu will be the next attacker and completely stop his spike. After Tsukishima scores a point after using a running approach to reach a higher attacking height, Atsumu silently wonders what has happened to Kageyama since Youth Camp, as he looks completely different now than he did before. As Hinata rotates back to the front row, Atsumu takes the opportunity to taunt the middle blocker, announcing to his team that Karasuno's wall has weakened and this will be their chance to win points. His confidence is shaken when Hinata surprises him by blocking Osamu and blocking his attack. However, Atsumu is undeterred and soon sees Osamu easily defeat Hinata in a battle at the net.
Midway through the second set, Atsumu unleashed a floating serve that Nishinoya couldn't receive. This not only frustrated Karasuno's libero but also instilled a sense of dread in the rest of the team, believing none of them would have a chance to receive it even if Nishinoya failed. As he prepared to serve again, Atsumu realized that the two people who tried to receive his serves the most were Daichi and Nishinoya. However, during the first set, he noticed that Nishinoya had great difficulty receiving floating serves, despite his skill. For a while, Atsumu expressed the incredible feeling of scoring an ace against a powerful opponent, but was quickly teased by his teammates for his simplistic reasoning. Atsumu served again with a floating jump serve and once again aced it when Nishinoya tried to receive normally, but the ball simply fell to the ground.
plot
As the match progresses, Atsumu shows his aggression by giving the first touch to Aran, who scores before Karasuno can react. His coolness is finally broken when Karasuno counters with a slow-paced wide attack, while Atsumu can't help but be thrilled by the abnormally fast one after witnessing it up close. On his next serving turn, Atsumu hits a floater aimed straight at Nishinoya, who fails to save the ball. He observes that Karasuno isn't particularly shaken by his serves and instructs Osamu not to mistime his next attack. Atsumu hits another floater, and this time, Karasuno receives it. As soon as the ball returns to Inarizaki's side, Atsumu successfully executes a slow-paced quick one with Osamu, catching everyone by surprise. Afterward, Atsumu admits that his accuracy isn't as precise as Kageyama's, but he has the desire to imitate flashy moves. The match continues with both teams using their quick attacks against each other. Atsumu deduces, from watching Karasuno's previous matches, that Kageyama has a habit of forcing a quick attack after a poor catch. It seems Atsumu had already informed his team about this in advance, as the three blockers jump on Hinata to block his attack. [7]
Group s4-e15-4 The twins' next attempt at another fast attack nearly fails when Atsumu accidentally sends an inappropriate set to his brother. However, their next attempt at the fast is successful. Atsumu's incredible skills and sets are complemented by Bokuto and Akaashi. Meanwhile, Coach Fuki believes that Atsumu is proof to Hinata that there is someone else capable of giving him incredible sets and that the super fast one is not as unique as he believes. [8] Atsumu immediately predicts that Kageyama will give Hinata a set and tries to block the younger player, only to be caught off guard when Hinata spikes the ball against Atsumu's hand and scores.
plot
Nationals Atsumu watches Karasuno's first match against Tsubakihara Academy and notices that Kageyama is completely different from when he was at camp.[5] He then turns his attention to Hinata, having seen his jumping power and speed, and wonders who he is.
Karasuno x Inarizaki Atsumu and his team, Inarizaki, face Karasuno on the second day of the Spring Tournament. Besides his team being the second seed, Atsumu is revealed to have a twin brother, Osamu, who plays the opposite way. As the two teams warm up in the sub-arena, Atsumu approaches Kageyama to tell him to do his best, as he hates playing against players who stink, indirectly referring to Hinata. When Kageyama assures him that Hinata is not easy to deal with and will be difficult to handle, Atsumu gives him an intimidating smile but stops any provocation.
Atsumu s4-e13-1 Atsumu silences the crowd. As soon as the match begins, Atsumu is the first to serve. He silences the Inarizaki orchestra, as he needs absolute silence to concentrate. However, two girls unfamiliar with Atsumu's habit cheer loudly. Atsumu hits a powerful spike serve that draws the line between Tanaka and Nishinoya. He then glares at the two girls who cheered him during his first serve, displeased with them for interrupting him. He makes his second serve but hits it out of bounds. Later, Atsumu is seen questioning Hinata's ultimate jumping power and his resemblance to Kageyama as the type of guy who does whatever he wants after Hinata tries something during the match.
plot
Tokyo Nationals Arch Preparation for Nationals Atsumu s4-e4-3 Atsumu calls Kageyama "nice". Atsumu is one of the players invited to the All-Japan Youth Intensive Training Camp. [3] During the first practice match, Atsumu laughs lightly when he sees Kageyama messing around. Some time later, during a break, he approaches Kageyama while the latter is talking to Hoshiumi. After Kageyama tells Hoshiumi that he is not really affected by his jumping power, Atsumu laughs and calls Kageyama a cold and controlled person. He then bluntly tells the first-year that he initially thought Kageyama was an amazing player, but now he can see that Kageyama is just a goody-two-shoes. This angers the latter, who glares at Atsumu hostilely.
In the final practice match, Atsumu throws to Kageyama for the first time. [4] Kageyama sets with ease and later tells Atsumu that his throws are easy to hit. In response, Atsumu simply replies that people who can't hit their throws are bad. He then asks Kageyama if he likes setting more than setting because Kageyama seems to get irritated when he sets. Kageyama doesn't understand and emphasizes that he is a setter, and Atsumu leaves it at that. Kageyama questions Atsumu about what he meant by being a goody-two-shoes, and Atsumu replies that he just means that Kageyama is obedient and honest.
As the players head home after training camp, Atsumu says goodbye to Kageyama and tells him that they will meet again at the national competitions.
bottom
Bottom Atsumu lives in Hyogo Prefecture and therefore speaks a Kansai dialect. He is currently a sophomore at Inarizaki High School with his twin brother, Osamu. He is recognized as the best setter in high school and has received the Best Server award during his junior high and intercollegiate tournaments. Thanks to his cutting-edge skills, Atsumu is one of the few players invited to the All-Japan Youth training camp.
The twins have been playing volleyball since elementary school. In fourth grade, they attended a volleyball workshop where they met their current teammate, Aran Ojiro. [1] During the workshop, Atsumu personally witnessed how a skilled setter brought out the potential of his attackers by sending them the best passes. This sparked his interest in becoming a setter. Initially, Osamu was chosen as the setter because he was more skilled. However, according to Aran, Atsumu is said to have an irrepressible hunger as he strives to improve. Eventually, Atsumu surpassed Osamu as the team's official setter.
Atsumu frequently clashed with his teammates throughout elementary school, especially when they didn't meet his expectations. As a result, he was hated among his teammates. When questioned about this, Atsumu revealed that he didn't mind being hated at all.
It is known that he and Osamu went to the national competitions in their first year of high school and played against Yurisei in their third year.
personality
Personality Outwardly, Atsumu appears to be a carefree and confident person, often seen with a lazy smile on his face, though he enjoys teasing people and giving them casual compliments. He can be quite condescending and somewhat selfish at times. Osamu has described him as someone who doesn't listen to others, doesn't return what he borrows, and often lies.
He also appears to be a perfectionist with ridiculously high standards for himself and his forwards, which has caused several teammates to dislike him, but he seems unconcerned about their opinions. He strives to provide the best shot for his forwards, but in return, he expects them to perform at a high level. If the forwards fail to meet his standards, Atsumu is not afraid to confront them directly and even call them trash, including his own twin brother. He is extremely sensitive when it comes to serving and how much noise there is around him; if he is disturbed while serving, his outward personality changes completely, and he becomes intimidatingly angry at the disturbance.
Atsumu is a competitive person who hates to lose; sometimes, these traits can backfire. Osamu has also noticed that his twin brother's mental age drops by five years whenever he's in the middle of a game.
