Beginning of History
It begins in a dystopian future where mutants are hunted and exterminated by Sentinels, robots created by Bolivar Trask. To change this future, the X-Men send Wolverine back in time, specifically to 1973, with the mission of preventing Mystique from killing Trask, which triggered the creation of the Sentinels and the war against the mutants. In 1973, Wolverine teams up with young Professor X and Beast to stop Mystique from assassinating Trask. However, the situation is complicated by tensions between Xavier and Magneto, and Mystique's anger. In the end, Mystique does not kill Trask, but she is not killed either, altering the timeline and creating a new reality. In the new timeline, the future of 2023 is different. The Sentinels are no longer a threat, and mutants live in peace. Wolverine wakes up in this new future, where he reunites with the X-Men and discovers that everything has changed for the better. The film, therefore, takes place in two timelines: the dystopian future of 2023 and the past of 1973, with the goal of altering history and preventing the mutant holocaust.
Characters 1
Main Characters and their Origins/Personalities: Wolverine (Logan/James Howlett): The mutant with a healing factor and retractable claws, known for his animal instincts and ruthless personality. In this story, his regenerative ability is crucial for time travel. His origin, while not detailed extensively in the film, is hinted at through flashbacks and memories that allow him to connect with the past. His personality in the film is that of a pragmatic warrior, driven by the need to protect his fellow mutants. Professor X (Charles Xavier): The leader of the X-Men, a powerful telepath who in the 1970s is dealing with the loss of his legs and hopelessness. In this film, he is portrayed as a man consumed by guilt and grief, struggling to find his way and his faith in the peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. His origin as an idealist and peacemaker is challenged by circumstances. Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr): The Master of Magnetism, a mutant who initially seeks the protection of mutants through force. In this version, he is shown as more vulnerable and tormented by his past. In the past, he is presented as a prisoner in an underground prison, with a personality marked by distrust and resentment toward humans. His origins as a victim of Nazi concentration camps make him a complex character, with a radical vision of the fight for mutant survival. Mystique (Raven Darkhölme): The shape-shifting mutant plays a crucial role in the story as a catalyst for conflict. The film depicts her internal struggle between her loyalties and her desire to avenge the injustices suffered by mutants. Her origins as a disoriented young woman searching for her place in the world are reflected in her actions and motivations.
Act 2
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" centers on Wolverine's mission to travel back in time to change a pivotal event that sparked the persecution of mutantkind. In the future, mutants are hunted by Sentinels, machines designed to eradicate them. To prevent this dystopian future, Wolverine is sent back to 1973 to enlist the help of a young Professor X and Magneto, in order to stop Mystique before she commits an act that would justify the creation of the Sentinels. In short, Act 2 of the film takes place in two timelines: Future (approximately 2023): The X-Men, led by Kitty Pryde, face a fierce battle against the Sentinels in Moscow. After a tough defeat, Kitty, with Bishop's help, manages to send Wolverine's consciousness back in time to 1973. Past (1973): Wolverine, with his mind in the body of his 1973 self, seeks out Charles Xavier, who is mired in despair and addiction to an experimental serum that allows him to regain his powers. Wolverine also encounters Magneto in a maximum security prison, where he is being held for Kennedy's assassination, though Magneto claims his innocence. Together, they must convince Xavier to help them find Mystique, who is about to commit an act that will trigger the creation of the Sentinels. Mystique's search leads them to confront a young Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels, and a race against time to prevent history from taking a fatal turn for mutantkind. The episode culminates with the arrival of the original X-Men, who join the fight to prevent a war on mutantkind. They face a future where mutants are hunted by Sentinels, and Logan must travel back in time to change an event that triggered the hunt.
