Notes Tom's black eyes are explained by the fact that in Edd's old works, he had white eyes with no pupils when surprised. Tom told Edd that it would be better to change his eyes to black, because it would be easier to animate. In the show, Tom has black eyes because of the demonic essence in him. Despite this, Tom had different eyes in some moments. For example, in the Zanta Claws II eddiesode, when Tom opened his gift, his eyes were more "normal". And also in Space Face (part 1), when Edd shot Tom's eyes with the normalizer, they became the same as the other main characters' eyes for a few seconds. His father is a pineapple and the Fun Dead edisode showed his father dying. However, Tom's father in 25ft Under the Seat was shown to be a watermelon. Tom is the shortest (or on par with Tord) of the main characters, and his hair creates an effect on par with Edd's.

Monster Tom Monster Tom makes his first and only appearance in the PowerEdd series. He is a large, dark purple creature with one black eye, less dark purple horns with a purple stripe, and a long tail. Monster Tom has very large arms. The only thing he has in common with his regular version is his eyes.

Tom is always unfazed no matter how huge the situation is, as shown in Space Face (Part 2) when he was standing next to the buttons and pressing them, he made absolutely no real effort to stop himself from falling to Earth. The character also did not panic when the ship was going full speed ahead and did not show any signs of being worried. But at the end of the episode, when he talks to Edd, Thomas says that he is very drunk as an excuse for his calmness. Tom is shown to be rather indifferent, but he still has a more cheerful appearance in some situations. Thomas is often shown to never celebrate it, as shown in the late 2005 Special Special. He apparently celebrates Hanukkah instead (which he considers stupid). Evidence can first be seen in Hello Hellhole (Edd, Matt, and Tord walk through the tourist door, while Tom walks through the Jehovah's Witness door.) Tom is not particularly emotional, and has a sadistic and cruel personality. He does not tend to care about anything unless it will benefit him in some way (not including Zanta Claws II, where he saves Santa from being shot by jumping in front of him). The character will also never help someone unless he gets something in return. However, in previous episodes, he was clearly kinder, such as in Zombeh Nation, Tom seemed to genuinely care about Matt. He is also a very cold character, who is aware that his actions often harm people, but at the same time, Tom does not take any responsibility for his actions. From time to time, he makes others suffer to reward himself, and he often humiliates people.

The main feature of the character is that he has no eyes or they are just black (different edisodes show different variations), but at the same time, Tom is able to see. Tom Ridgewell once said that Tom just has black eyes. He has long spiky hair growing upwards (which he called Steve in the edisodes Moving Targets) and a round, spherical head. This character always wears a blue sweatshirt, but Tom's pants change depending on the season. He wears shoes in a black and white checkered pattern, reminiscent of a chessboard in its arrangement and coloring.
