Zanka is a tall, slender teenager with navy blue eyes and slicked-back dark brown hair styled in a mullet with blond streaks and shaved eyebrows. He has pierced ears and long, dangling tassels. His cleaner uniform is quite loose, with open sleeves and wide-legged pants. The shoulders of the uniform are slightly raised, and he wears a navy blue waistband that extends both front and back. Like many cleaners, he carries a large waist bag, secured by a sash. He wears his cleaner badge on his chest and wears white-soled boots.

Compared to the other Cleaners, Zanka's uniform is considerably more elegant; even his cleaner badge looks more extravagant than the others. This is due to his status as a "young master" or "lord" in the Camp.

Outwardly, Zanka usually maintains a calm and neutral demeanor, and even when upset, he maintains a seemingly impassive face. Inside, he is chaotic and easily loses control of his emotions. Whether it's anger or disgust, he expresses them in rather exaggerated outbursts, which he sometimes reveals to the outside world. Even when feeling happy or excited, he quickly hides his emotions and avoids smiling. Compared to his more quirky colleagues, Zanka is usually serious and straightforward at work, but tends to get carried away by their rhythm and join in their mischief. Tomme Mima considers Zanka one of those people capable of "shattering the sanity" of its more clumsy and capricious members. Zanka carries himself with confidence and courtesy, although he can be very direct, sarcastic, and brash when expressing his opinions. Zanka speaks a notable Chūgoku dialect. Zanka has his own unique view of people, categorizing them as either "average" or "genius." As a member of the noble Nijiku family, Zanka has a lot of pride, but he doesn't boast or mistreat others, despite being somewhat arrogant in his thoughts. In the past, he used to think of himself as a genius, but upon being surpassed by a real genius, he recognized himself as average and humbled himself. While he resents "geniuses" and sees them as people who don't need to work hard to become great, he doesn't behave negatively or take it out on them, as Zanka is cordial to Rudo and tried to hide his jealousy toward Hyo. He has accepted himself as average and strives to surpass geniuses through hard work alone to prove that average people can be just as great. As expressed by Enjin, Zanka fights his own weakness, which makes him mentally strong. Zanka also states that he doesn't blame others for his shortcomings or failures in battle and that he dislikes receiving pity. General Abilities: Zanka proves to be a formidable combatant, displaying high speed, strength, and agility in his fighting style. He is an expert in the handling of Vital Instruments, most notably demonstrated in his own proficient handling of his own. Enjin himself, an experienced Giver, praised Zanka's skills and considered him the best Vital Instrument handler in the Cleaners. As a former Hell Guard trainee at the academy, Zanka was at the top of his class and received different types of training before dropping out, such as weapons and hand-to-hand combat. Zanka also received private training from his family, including his older sister Kyouka Nijiku, who taught him how to dodge gunfire.
