Alya and Masha Kudzyo

She was Masachika's childhood friend before he changed his last name from "Suoh" to "Kuze". However, Maria and her family soon had to return to Russia, and they only came to Japan several years later. They unexpectedly met, and although Maria soon realized that Masachika was the boy from before, it took them some time to realize who they really were and rekindle their old friendship. Maria is very attached to her sister. She enjoys snuggling with Alya, and often uses her as a pillow, much to her younger sister's displeasure.[5] On the other hand, she cares very much for Alice, and is even willing to step aside so that Alice can be with Masachika, as seen when Kuze and Masha met in the park.[6]

Maria is a sweet girl who always has a relaxed atmosphere around her. Despite her very gentle and kind aura, her actions and thoughts can seem rather clumsy or frivolous to others. She believes that taking life too seriously is burdensome, and tries to take things more simply. However, she sometimes shows thoughtfulness and can make a few reflective remarks.

She is Alice's older sister and loves to tease her, which shows how close they are. Throughout the series, it is shown how much she cares for Alice, so much so that she wants Alice to call her "Onee-san" in Japanese, but Alice refuses. She is happy for Alice in regards to her potential relationship with Kuze and encourages them both. Her affection for Alice is one of the reasons why she acts frivolously, to make Alice feel better and not be afraid of potential competition from her. Unlike her sister, Maria is often difficult to understand. Throughout the series, we see that it is quite difficult to understand what Maria is thinking when she does the strangest things from time to time. She has a boyfriend whom she calls sometimes, and when he is not around, she talks to a photo of him in a locket, which turns her into a "lovesick girl".

She is a model student at school. She fulfills her role as the ideal secretary of the student council with honor, and is also talented in other areas. At first, Kuze thought that she got into the council due to her popularity, but soon realized that he was wrong.

She loves cute things and always wants to keep them for herself. When she and Kuze went shopping for things for the student council room, she started picking out teddy bears and other cute things, so Kuze had to stop her. She also loves tea and bought some for the student council.
