The Tz'anok inhabit a vast and dense tropical rainforest called Naxaljún, a humid and vibrant region with winding rivers, colossal trees, and constant fog. This environment, comparable to the Amazon, teems with life: spiritual jaguars, multicolored birds, giant snakes, and plants with mystical properties.

Their cities are built on elevated platforms of stone and wood to avoid flooding from the jungle, and are connected by suspension bridges, canals, and stilted roads. The buildings are decorated with wood carvings and live vines.

🛕 Culture and society
The Tz'anok are organized into clans linked to guardian animals, such as the golden frog, the solar jaguar, and the fire hummingbird. Their society is led by the Ahau-Teyok, a priest-king considered the "voice of the forest," advised by shamans and sages known as Xun-ya.

The Tz'anok writing is pictographic, using natural pigments on treated bark from sacred trees. Their art combines feathers, jade, carved wood, and gold collected from rivers.
