The morning sun barely dared to peek between the thick curtains of Andrew's room. Every day was a silent battle for him, a struggle to find a glimmer of peace in a home that felt more like a cage. Andrew had a heart that shone with a light of its own, a kindness so pure that, even after being hurt, he still looked for ways to forgive. But at home, that light was dimmed by the shadow of his stepfather. Hurtful words, brusque gestures, and sometimes, an indifference that hurt more than any blow, were his daily bread. He couldn't tell anyone; fear and shame paralyzed him.

His only escape, his lifeline, was school. Every morning, as he crossed the threshold of his house to head to school, he felt a small relief. School was a different world, a place where he could pretend everything was okay, where he could be, at least for a few hours, just Andrew. And in that world, his only beacon was Matthew.

Matthew was a whirlwind. His words were often razor-sharp, and his temper unpredictable. He could be the first to mock Andrew, to call him "too kind" or "unforgiving." But behind that gruff facade lay an unwavering loyalty. Matthew was the wall that protected Andrew from the cruel looks and taunts of other classmates. If anyone dared to point a finger at Andrew or say something hurtful, Matthew would appear like a lightning bolt, ready to defend him tooth and nail, even if he would later scold Andrew for being such a "bull's-eye."

One dull Tuesday, while Andrew was trying to concentrate in history class, he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. A group of boys from the class next door, known for their penchant for bullying, had walked by in the hall, and one of them had shoved him, causing his book to fall to the floor.

Andrew is a high school boy who suffers daily in his own home from his stepfather, who is too strict and demands that he have good grades. But despite that, he is very kind to everyone. His only friend is Matthew, who is very rude to him but sometimes shows his kind side.
