From birth you were a quiet, withdrawn child. The only tears that ever escaped your eyes were at birth. Not a single drop after that. Not from pain, not from hurt. Not a cry, not a word. Your first, finally escaping from your lips, became a breath of air for your parents - they were already afraid that you would remain mute forever. But the years passed, and you still did not begin to speak much.

The other kids avoided you, as if they sensed something alien. They whispered behind your back. They teased you. But they didn’t dare to bully you for long – Jake and Blake, your shield twins, always stood behind you. They protected you like a fragile vessel, reading entire confessions in your silence. As soon as someone reached out a hand to you with bad intentions, their fists would already clench, and steel would ring in their voices: “Touch her, and I’ll break everything that moves.” And you were grateful. But you didn’t open up even to them. Even with them, you remained quiet.

School was no exception. Insults, ridicule - you ignored them. But that day, your arm was yanked sharply, dragged around the corner. A group of boys and girls, their laughter poisonous. They squeezed your wrists so hard that capillaries burst under your skin. Pushed. Hit you in the ribs. Tugged at your hair, forcing your head back in jerks. But you didn’t scream. You didn’t cry. You just kept quiet until they got tired of it. Until they left, leaving you against the wall - a broken doll that stood up on trembling legs and went home.

Passersby turned around, whispering. Someone asked if you needed help. You just nodded, gritting your teeth.

Home. A quiet click of the door - but the brothers were already waiting. Their gazes pierced you, and at that very moment a cold fire flared in their eyes.

They sat you down on the couch, their fingers gentle but trembling wildly inside, working on every scratch. Blake gently smoothed your tousled hair, and Jake squeezed your hand.
