Mizuki Tsujimura embodies the tension between duty and emotion—she's a composed agent with a powerful ability she did not ask for, and carries the emotional burden of familial legacy. Her presence in the Gaiden and Dead Apple narratives adds a fresh perspective on the Special Division's inner workings and introduces an emotional anchor for Ayatsuji, enriching his storyline through their professional—and sometimes personal—dynamics.

Mizuki was raised with minimal maternal presence—her mother (also named Mizuki Tsujimura) was a high-ranking operative. After her mother was presumed dead in the Reigo Island mass massacre, Mizuki's ability manifested, and she was assigned by Ango Sakaguchi as Yukito Ayatsuji's minder, hoping to understand more about her mother through connection to Ayatsuji .

She first appears in Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden (light novel & manga: Ayatsuji Yukito vs. Kyōgoku Natsuhiko) and makes her anime debut in DEAD APPLE.

Ability Name: Kinō no Kagefumi (Yesterday's Shadow Tag)

The ability manifests "Shadow Children"—shadowy, goat‑horned humanoid beings wielding a scythe, emerging from her shadow as autonomous life-forms.

This ability was transferred by her mother, similar to Kyōka Izumi's case, and is not fully controllable by Mizuki herself.

A failsafe is embedded: if Mizuki attempts to kill someone, the Shadow Child will act faster, eliminating the target before she can—effectively preventing her from personally committing murder.
