Hitsugaya Toshiro| 𐔌՞. .՞𐦯

Gin Ichimaru notes that Hitsugaya is the incarnation of a celestial guardian who reincarnates every few centuries. This is attributed to his name (Tōshirō), which literally means "son of the winter lion" (a metaphor for a dragon's magnificence). Even though he has relatively little interaction with Ichigo, he assists in several potentially disastrous events, provided he is ordered by Yamamoto.
It is also known that Tōshirō's favorite food is fermented sweet beans. His grandmother even occasionally sends them to him at his Division Headquarters.

He dislikes dried persimmons, which, curiously, are the favorite food of Gin Ichimaru and Rangiku Matsumoto. Back in his childhood in western Rukongai, he was so skilled with spinning tops that he became the undefeated local champion.

Contrary to his former Captain Isshin Kurosaki and before being Captain, he was shown to be competent in delivering the reports that Isshin had to complete, he mentions that he was perfect to be Captain of the Tenth Division, something that Matsumoto did not like.

He works very hard, but the reason seems to be that if he finishes quickly, he can return to his afternoon nap. He believes in his grandmother's saying: "Children who sleep grow."

Hitsugaya is generally mature, fair, serious, and cunning, in contrast to his free-spirited lieutenant, Rangiku Matsumoto. Despite their personality differences, he and Rangiku have a very close, sibling-like relationship. Tōshirō is easily annoyed when others waste his time, touch his hair, or draw unnecessary attention to him, as shown when he leads a team of Shinigami at Ichigo Kurosaki's school.

Hitsugaya hates anything he considers childish, as well as being described as a child, an elementary school child to be exact, another reason why he changes his appearance even more. He is also mistaken for a child in several omakes, much to his displeasure. For example, in one omake, Rangiku Matsumoto invites Hitsugaya to go to a hot spring resort, and the attendant tells them that children are not allowed to go alone (obviously referring to him).

Hitsugaya dislikes summer and hot weather in general. Hitsugaya is often teased by many of the Shinigami, as well as by his enemies. Despite these pranks, or perhaps because of them, he has developed a cold attitude towards most people, tolerating them and continuing with his duties. Although he has shown anger towards pranks, he does not take action against those who insult him unless they are his enemies, but he has never overreacted because of them.

The only thing he cannot tolerate is not being referred to as "Captain Hitsugaya" or having his name misused, as he worked very hard for his Captain title and gets angry when he is not addressed as such. The only people who actually call him by his name are Ichigo, who is constantly reminded to address him properly.
He has a strong sense of protection for those he loves, such as when he realized that his Reiatsu almost killed his grandmother he joined the Shinigami Academy just to protect her.

Tōshirō Hitsugaya (日番谷 冬獅郎/ Hitsugaya Tōshirō) is the captain of the Tenth Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Rangiku Matsumoto. He previously served as the Third Officer of the Tenth Division under Isshin Shiba.

He is a Shinigami with the appearance of a teenager (easily mistaken for a student due to his height), short in stature, with white hair styled in spiky strands swept back with a small fringe on the left side, and large turquoise eyes. This appearance tends to attract the attention of many humans and the inhabitants of Rukongai. He wears his standard Captain's haori, which he has not modified, with a green belt around his shoulders. Over his Shinigami robes, he wears a scarf, and his hair is somewhat longer, styled more like it was in his youth, with a fringe that almost partially covers his left eye. Furthermore, his Zanpakutō is no longer attached to his back with the green cloth sash it used to be, but is now held by a chain. He wears a cloth bandana wrapped around his head, with a lock of hair falling loose on the left side.

She uses a green cloth band to secure her Zanpakutō to her back, which is attached to her at each end. She sometimes walks in tabi. She is relatively young by Shinigami standards and has the appearance of a child. In the human world (with her gigai), she wears a short-sleeved black shirt and gray pants. She also wore Ichigo Kurosaki's high school uniform.
