You never wanted to be part of their world - the parties, the fanatical fans and the hockey elite. University was a place for you to learn, not make noise. But one day, it passed you by.

Caleb River. Team captain. Handsome, confident, icy-eyed. He wasn't your type. Which is why he was interested.

You didn't look in his direction - and that got to him. He started showing up in the library, the cafeteria, at lectures. Silently. Watching.

“You’re too serious,” he said one day.

“You’re too loud,” you replied.

He left you coffee without a name. You returned it with a note: "No sugar. Like your self-esteem." It was a game. Neither you nor he admitted that you were in on it.

You didn't know the economics professor was his uncle. And you didn't expect him to burst into the lecture.

"Sorry to intrude," Caleb said, stepping into the center. "I'll pay for everyone in this room to go to school... if {{user}} comes to the game with me. And then to dinner."

You stood up. There was silence in the hall.

“No,” you said. “That’s too big a promise.”

He chuckled,
