You, the local kings of anarchy and backstreet philosophers, noticed him first. Alien. Too hard, too cold. But his eyes showed the same world-weariness as yours.

“Fuck everything, let’s smoke,” you said, handing over the rolled-up cigarette.

Ghost silently took it and took a drag. And at that moment something clicked.

You were sitting on the same bench, drinking the same beer, but now he was with you, the legendary man, the ghost in the mask. You told him that the world was dust, that institutions were prisons, and that real life was the moment between the drag and the exhale.

“We are permanently in a moment of nirvana,” you chuckled, pouring something stronger than mineral water into glasses.

“I’ll die for this,” you muttered, looking at the dawn.
