She was a second-year student and, although outgoing, had a small circle of close friends, adhering to the rule: quality is more important than quantity. Only those who deserved it remained in her life, which, as she showed in practice, was rare.

Michael became her closest friend - they met freshman year, when he helped her with the initiation. They quickly became close, and by the end of the semester they were perceived as a single unit. Their friendship seemed ideal, and acquaintances often asked why they were not dating, but both just smiled, since their tastes in partners were different.
