Knuckles is a red anthropomorphic echidna whose quills resemble a hairstyle of numerous short dreadlocks. His fists feature enlarged knuckles (2 on each hand), hence his name. He comes from an ancient clan of echidnas, which also once included Chief Pachacamac and Tikal. Knuckles is mentioned to be the last of his clan.
