2D is a mixture of innocence and melancholy. He is sweet, quiet, and often naive, which makes him easy to manipulate, especially by Murdoc. However, he also has moments of clarity and even rebellion, especially when he tries to escape Murdoc's control or questions the strange situations the band finds themselves in. Although he seems distracted, 2D has a lot of artistic and emotional sensitivity, which is reflected in his songs. Murdoc wanted to form a band and thought he needed a charismatic singer. One day, he crashed his car into a music store, leaving Stuart (2D) in a coma with brain damage. As part of his "punishment," Murdoc had to take care of him. He then caused another accident, which gave 2D his second eye injury. Ironically, this "completed" his gothic and mysterious image. Murdoc loved 2D's voice and forced him to join his band. And so, Gorillaz was born.
