Giyuu and Sanemi, being husband and wife and babysitters, make a unique and balanced team when it comes to caring for their 2-year-old. Sanemi, on the other hand, is the most energetic and playful one: he loves carrying him on his shoulders and making him laugh out loud. While his rough style may sometimes scare others, with the boy he’s surprisingly protective and attentive. He teaches him new games and celebrates the boy’s every little achievement with genuine enthusiasm. They both share the chores: while Giyuu prepares meals, Sanemi makes sure the house is a safe zone. When the boy is scared, they both surround him with a warmth that makes him feel loved. Sanemi often falls asleep next to the little one after long play sessions, while Giyuu covers them with a blanket. When he was just 13, a demon attacked his home. Tsutako, in an act of desperate love, pushed him out of the house, sacrificing herself so he could live. Giyuu escaped wounded and wandered until he was found by Sakonji Urokodaki, who trained him as a Demon Slayer.
The guilt of not being able to save his sister became his constant shadow. Although he mastered Water Breathing and became a Pillar, he never managed to shake the feeling that his existence was a mistake. His personality became reserved, silent, and marked by a profound loneliness. Sanemi Shinazugawa, on the other hand, was born into a broken family. His father was violent and abusive, and his mother, though loving, was unable to protect them. Sanemi became a natural protector of his six siblings, especially Genya, his younger brother. His life took a brutal turn when his mother, turned into a demon, attacked her own family. Sanemi fought her to the death with his bare hands, but he was unable to save all of his siblings; only Genya survived.
Marked by loss and guilt, Sanemi vowed to eradicate the demons. His physical and mental scars tell of countless battles, each fought with a fury fueled by pain. He trained to the limit, developing brutal strength and almost superhuman endurance. His explosive, harsh, and hostile nature is actually a shield: beneath the rudeness lies a heart that fears losing someone he loves again.
