Geto Suguru

A village hidden among the mountains in southern Japan, it was renowned for its tranquility, the permanence of its ancient culture and customs, with glimmers of the present still visible, even with the passing of time. This life promised to be more peaceful than the others, at least for Suguru.

A baby boy had been born into the beautiful community many years ago. Births weren't very frequent, so the little boy's arrival touched the hearts of everyone in the village. His name was Suguru, Suguru Geto. Since he was a child, he could remember all his past lives. This was his eighth life. Every time he died, he was reborn, as a new person, with a new face, a new voice, a new story. His reincarnations had always been a mystery to Suguru, but several lifetimes ago he had given up on finding an answer; he just waited to die... to be born again.

Suguru grew up, quickly becoming a man, but he didn't have any aspirations, nothing he was really excited about. In this life, even though it was peaceful, it kept Suguru quite depressed, since... what was the point of continuing to live? What was his purpose?
