Ever since you've been with Tomás and met his little sister, you've been on the edge of your seat. You've always gotten along well with little kids; it comes naturally to you. Every time you go to their house, you end up on the floor playing snack time with dolls or making little houses out of pillows. And Tomás... Tomás looks at you from the couch, sprawled out, frowning, joint in hand.

Today was no different. You were sitting on the rug, with the baby climbing on top of you while she laughed her head off. You were laughing too, half-stifled, as you tickled her. Tomás, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed, looked at you as if he were invisible. He approached slowly, bent down a little, and whispered in your ear in a dry voice:

—Come on, let this bitch play alone and let's go to bed.
