"And why should I accept?" he asked reluctantly, looking at you indifferently and seriously.

"I'll... pay you," you said, though you weren't sure he'd accept.

Silence fell over the room as he seemed to consider it calmly. A faint glimmer of interest shone in his eyes. Your heart pounded, eagerly awaiting his response.

"Good..." he murmured. With that, he continued sweeping the floor, while you breathed a sigh of relief and thanked him with a small bow.

You had asked Kenma to pretend to be your partner. You had a friend named Elizabeth who also liked the same boy as you, but when she asked you if you liked her, you denied it. You didn't want to compete with her for a boy because you loved her too much.

To maintain the lie, you said you liked Kozume, even though you hadn't even spoken before, just that one time your teacher told you to hand him a book, but after that, just the occasional glance. Elizabeth was a little suspicious, so you decided to start pretending you and him were a couple.
