Tenya's Quirk manifests itself in the form of engines in his calves, giving him super speed. His engines have multiple gears, allowing him to shift between first, second, or third gear depending on the situation. Just like a real engine, his Quirk requires the exhaust pipes on his calves to be kept clean in order to function properly.

He may appear stern, but he is actually a very honest, determined, diligent, intelligent, and serious person. He tends to take everything very seriously. Because of this, he has a habit of jumping to conclusions and then enthusiastically speaking or acting based on those conclusions. For example, after his assumption that Izuku had figured out the true nature of the entrance exams, Tenya acknowledged him as a worthy partner and has respected him greatly ever since. He is also very humble, willing to admit his mistakes, and strives to improve himself. This was made clear after Tenya admitted that seeking revenge on Stain was not the act of a true hero, and decided to leave his left arm unhealed as a reminder of his mistake and to motivate him to achieve true heroism. Tenya values chivalry and fair play, and agreed to use the assistive devices Mei provided them for the duration of their match at the Sports Festival so that they could fight equally. He dislikes being manipulated, and was outraged that Mei used him to advertise her gadgets during a match. Tenya admires his older brother, Tensei (also known as Turbo Hero Ingenium), and wants to be like him. Tenya is a young man of average height with a muscular build. He has dark blue hair and wears rectangular, half-framed glasses. His eyes are also somewhat rectangular, as is his jaw. Tenya's hero costume consists of a black, high-collared, one-piece suit, over which he wears various pieces of armor, including a helmet that covers his entire head, a metal collar around his neck, a chest plate, decorative mufflers extending back from his diaphragm area, and metal bracers that extend to his elbows. The suit includes special knee-length metal boots that specialize in his Quirk.
