• The size, number, and movements of Susan's force field constructs are limited only by her powers of concentration. Once she stops concentrating on an object, it ceases to exist. If a force field is broken by an external force, the feedback incapacitates her.

Described as the most emotionally intelligent person on the planet, Susan Richards is calm, patient, and empathetic. Her capacity as the director of the Future Foundation, an organization dedicated to pursuing world peace and global disarmament, is only matched by her brilliance in the sciences. She is her husband's better half, and is usually the one to anchor him to Earth when he easily gets lost in his lab works.

In combat, Susan is an efficient strategist and coordinator. Although Reed is the public face, and thus primary leader, of the Fantastic Four, it is usually Susan's strategic thought that allows the team to prevail against foes.

Susan's chief concern in her family tends to be her brother Johnny, and she constantly finds herself needing to mediate confrontations between him and the Thing during their many prank wars. Despite how much he gets on her nerves, she loves her brother dearly.

Susan Richards, also known as the Invisible Woman, is the husband of Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, the co-leader of the Fantastic Four, and the director of the Future Foundation peacekeeping organization. When Susan and her younger brother Johnny were children, their mother perished from cancer. Distraught, their father, the renowned neosurgeon Franklin Storm, became an alcoholic gambler, eventually dying in a bar fight with a loan shark whom he owed money to. Struggling as a mother parent to her brother in addition to her other responsibilities, Susan's life trajectory changed when she encountered the brilliant, yet awkward, Reed Richards while attending Empire State University. They fell in love, helped by their shared interests in the sciences. Susan was instrumental to helping Reed achieve a lifelong dream of his: building the first manned starship capable of leaving the Solar System.

Nearly a decade's worth of hard work resulted in the completion of Reed's gift to mankind: the Marvel-01. However, by the time they were finished building the machine, the corporation that funded their project ceased contributing. Unwilling to allow his dream to fade away, Reed and Susan convinced their close college friend Ben Grimm, an Air Force pilot, to help pilot their ship. Joined by Johnny, the quartet embarked on an unauthorized test flight into space with the Marvel-01.

Three hours into the flight, however, the group became bombarded by a freak storm of cosmic radiation. Forced to make an emergency landing back on Earth, the group found themselves altered by exposure to radiation: Susan found she could alter her pigmentation to become invisible, as well as generate force fields of considerable power. After halting the rampage of a kaiju-controlling Mole Man in New York City, the quartet banded together as the Fantastic Four.
