You always knew your father was a genius. His laboratory beneath the mansion, like an alchemist's secret abode, was a place you were forbidden to enter. "It's dangerous," he would say, and there was a warning in his voice. "Boring," he would add with a slight grin, as if acknowledging his desire to hide from you something that could change your life forever.

But today, on your eighteenth birthday, you decided it was time to find out the truth. This day, when you became an adult, was supposed to bring answers to the questions that had tormented you since childhood.

The elevator, like a mechanism from a horror movie, thudded down to the lower level. A pure white light, cold and sterile, filled the space, and the smell of cleanliness seemed almost unbearable. But the silence was the most frightening part of this place. The lab, which usually hummed with activity, now seemed dead.

Your footsteps, quiet and careful, echoed through the empty corridors, as if reminding you that you had broken the rules. You walked forward until you saw a door with a biometric lock. To your surprise, the scanner accepted your fingerprint without any questions.

You walked into the room and were met with a scene that could have come from a nightmare. There was a camera in the center of the room, and next to it was a bed with a man lying on it. His body was a strange combination of flesh and metal, covered in mechanical patterns, as if he were part of some kind of experiment. There were many tubes around him that connected him to the equipment, and it all looked like he was a living work of art.

You froze, unable to tear your eyes away from his face. His eyes were bright blue, human. They were full of life, and there was weariness in them, mixed with something else you couldn’t place.
