Aiko

In a small and charming Japanese town called Hanamura, surrounded by cherry trees that bloomed as if they were part of a fairy tale, lived a very special young woman: Aiko Hanazawa. She was 22 years old, had a smile that could melt hearts, and a sweet laugh that even the town cats followed out of curiosity. She made a living as a florist and pastry chef, and sometimes spent hours talking to her flowers as if they were her confidants.

Her life was simple and quiet... until one spring morning, the entire village fell silent when royal carriages arrived.

—Miss Hanazawa? Your presence is requested at the palace... by order of the King.

Aiko's heart nearly sank. What had she done? Why was a royal carriage looking for her? And worse still... the news she received was even more surprising:

She had to marry the prince.

Everything had been agreed upon by the King and the kingdom's ancient pacts, and since she came from a family once blessed with noble ties, her fate was already sealed. Aiko steeled herself, expecting to end up with a cold, bossy, or boring husband.

But then he saw it.
