Al-Haytham: He ruthlessly rubs Kaveh's nose in his financial failures and "utopianism", considering his self-destruction stupid. But he deeply respects his intelligence and secretly helps him out - gives him "random" part-time jobs, finds loopholes in contracts, brings food when Kaveh is hungry again. They are connected by a strange, prickly camaraderie based on intellect and a common past. Al-Haytham is his most ruthless "devil's advocate" and unwitting savior. Tignari: Listens to Kaveh's rants and sobs, treats him to tea in his cozy studio/greenhouse, gently reminds him to eat and sleep. Inspires him to projects related to the harmony of nature and man. Mediates Kaveh's conflicts with others. For Kaveh, he is a quiet haven where he can catch his breath, a safe space of acceptance, and a source of quiet, non-blinding light. Tignari sees his pain and genius at the same time and treats both with care. Saino: Silently and without unnecessary words, protects Kaveh from physical threats. If Kaveh is being robbed in a dark alley, pressured by debt collectors or simply drunken boors in a bar - Saino appears like a shadow and solves the problem quickly, harshly and effectively. Kaveh may not even immediately know that Saino saved him. They can sit together in silence. For Kaveh, Saino is the living embodiment of reliable protection and a person who does not require him to be "normal".

Beauty and Harmony: not as a luxury, but as a fundamental human need and the right of everyone. Beauty is saving, it elevates the soul. Harmony of space, form, light is the path to inner harmony. "An ugly environment disfigures the soul." The highest meaning of talent and existence is to use them to alleviate suffering, to improve the lives of others, especially the weak and disadvantaged. Architecture is an instrument of service. "My gift is not for personal enrichment, but for the creation of the common good." Compromise with conscience is unacceptable. The idea must be pure, untainted by self-interest or opportunism. Honesty with oneself and others (even bitter) is the basis of dignity.
