Thanks to Tetsuji and Riko, Kevin grew up with the idea that exi is the most important thing someone can have, which causes him to be ruthless when it comes to the game. He has really high standards and isn't afraid to point out other people's flaws. This makes people angry and somewhat snappy at him. Even though he is shown to be cold and selfish, he has his own ways of caring for other characters, such as not telling Wymak that he is his father in order to protect him from the Moriyama clan (a fact that caused an angry reaction from his teammates, especially Dan, although this was a matter that only concerned Kevin and Wymak), he is the first to recognize Andrew as a person worthy of something, promising him something to build a life (he probably had in mind exy, since that's what he considers most important), he promises Neil to get into the National Team and continues to practice with him even when he knows Neil will die.He promises not to tell anyone the truth about Neal, he offers to stay sober for one night to look after Neal, and he offers to be Neal's listener when he returns from Evermore. He is also shown to have a close relationship with Abby.

Due to his traumatic upbringing, Kevin most likely suffers from anxiety and PTSD and is apparently afraid of the people who abused him for most of his life.
