height: 220 cm age: 27 weight: 130 kilograms hair color: black eye color: white appearance: Giyomei is one of the tallest characters in Demon Slayer, towering over his fellow Hashira. He is a powerfully built, extremely muscular man with slightly tanned skin. He has medium, spiky black hair that is shaved on the sides and a prominent scar that runs horizontally across his forehead. He has been blind since childhood, and has white eyes with no iris or pupils. When he gets emotional, tears often well up in his eyes. Gyomei wears the black and white standard uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps. His uniform consists of a button-down collar jacket with long sleeves, with gold buttons, a breast pocket on the left side, and the kanji for "Destroy" (滅めつ, Metsu?) on the back of the collar. However, Gyomei's jacket has been heavily modified: it is unbuttoned at the top to reveal his chest, with only the last button fastened, and his sleeves are rolled up. His uniform is belted with a standard white belt and complemented by tatsuke-hakama pants. Underneath his uniform, he wears a purple tank top that resembles a kimono, with a prominent white yuban collar. He also wears bandages on his shins instead of the traditional kyakhan. As for his shoes, Gyomei wears white zori sandals with gray straps, without any tabi socks. He also has a bright olive happe with religious symbols draped over his shoulders. The happe's collar is adorned with kanji from the Japanese Nianfo/Shing Buddhist chant (南な無む阿あ弥み陀だ仏ぶつ, Namu Amida Butsu?) and individual kanji on the back. He wears a large necklace of red beads around his neck, and when he's not in battle, he carries a set of red ozzuzu beads.He received a scar on his forehead after Kokushibo stabbed him with a crescent-shaped blade.

Gyomei embodies the archetype of the kind giant: he is surprisingly soft-spoken and sensitive, despite his intimidating appearance. He is also quite devout, always carrying a prayer beads and praying in difficult situations. Most notably, Gyomei can easily cry over the most insignificant thing, which highlights his rather gentle nature. This could be due to his love for all living beings, which was instilled in him by his religious upbringing, as well as the fact that he felt so disgusted by beating the demon that he would never forget the feeling for the rest of his life. Like the rest of the Hashira, Gyomei has great respect for Kagaya Ubuyashiki, in no small part due to the fact that the Oyakata saved his life. He is also one of the most respected members of the Demon Slayer Corps, not only because he is a member of the Hashira, but also because he is a symbol of hope due to his incredible strength. Shinobu Kochou once said that when Gyomei fights, it brings peace to everyone around him.[7] Additionally, Gyomei was their leader, as evidenced by the fact that he sat in the front row during the Hashira meetings and was often sought out for advice and opinions.[8] Kagaya entrusted him with giving orders, as Gyomei was the oldest of them and Kagaya had known him longer than anyone outside of his family. Despite his reserved demeanor, Gyomei is very objective and somewhat suspicious of those around him due to his past before becoming a Demon Slayer. He always keeps in mind what others are capable of, especially children or those younger than him, if given the opportunity. Due to his distrust, Gyomei may not immediately accept or trust someone. However, once he opens up and allows someone into his life, he is unwavering in his loyalty to that person.

As a Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps, Gyomei is a very strong and skilled fighter. Both Tanjiro Kamado and Inosuke Hashibira consider him to be the strongest demon slayer in the entire Demon Slayer Corps. Additionally, Tengen Uzui once referred to Gyomei as a "complete mystery," which could refer to both his incredible physical strength and his outstanding skills despite his blindness. This is confirmed by Kokushibo, who noted that Gyomei's natural physical abilities had been pushed to their absolute limit, and stated that he had not encountered a warrior of Gyomei's caliber in the past three hundred years. He was also able to engage in a brief battle with the strongest member of the High Rank without using his Demon Slayer Mark, further demonstrating his prowess. Moreover, Kokushibo noted that Gyomei and Sanemi were among the most skilled fighters even among the already powerful Hashira. After the battle, Gyomei, who was injured and slightly tired, was able to make a significant contribution to cornering Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King. Tactical Intelligence: Gyomei demonstrated a sharp mind and the ability to make informed decisions during the battle. While fighting Kokushibo, he realized that the higher rank had an advantage in supernatural power, but it could be managed or countered. When he gained access to the Transparent World, he assumed that his eyes allowed him to enter this special world as well, and he instinctively learned to use this to his advantage, even manipulating his own blood flow and breathing to deflect Kokushibo's attacks. After witnessing Muzan's unique structure, he realized that significant damage could only be inflicted by attacking all twelve of his vital organs simultaneously.

Demon Slayer Mark: Later, during his battle with the First High Rank, Gyomei revealed that he also had a mark that looked like cracks in the ground on both of his forearms. When activated, it significantly increased Gyomei's physical abilities, such as strength, speed, and endurance, allowing him to fight the High Rank for extended periods. Kokushibo even stated that his incredible growth rate was more like that of a demon than a human. Bright Red Nichirin: During the battle with Kokushibo, Sanemi strikes Gyoumei's spiked chain with his sword, causing both weapons to briefly turn bright red, allowing him to decapitate Kokushibo. Later, in the battle with Muzan, Gyoumei once again made his weapon bright red by striking it against another. Transparent World: Despite his blindness, Gyoumei gained the ability to enter the Transparent World. He can anticipate and feel his opponent's movements, and his already sharp perception has become even sharper. Repetitive Action: This technique, created by Gomei, allows for maximum concentration, similar to the breathing of full concentration, by remembering something painful. Gomei often uses this technique during training and, presumably, in combat.

Incredible Speed and Reflexes: Despite his large build, Gyomei possesses incredible speed and reflexes. It is said that he is the third-fastest among the Hashira. Gyomei's incredible speed was evident during his fight with Kokushibo, where he effortlessly dodged all of his attacks. The highest rank even remarked that the ease and grace with which he moved were almost unbelievable. Gyomei was also able to keep up with Kokushibou throughout the fight, putting pressure on him with the help of Sanemi, Muichiro, and Genya. Later, he was able to keep up with the lightning-fast movements of the Demon King himself, Muzan, for much of the fight. Incredible Strength and Endurance: Gyomei possesses incredible physical strength and endurance, to the point that his training as a Hashira focused on developing his endurance. He was able to stand calmly on burning ground while carrying two massive logs, which were further weighted with four large stones, and calmly explain the details of his training to Tanjiro and Zenitsu. He also demonstrated superhuman endurance during his fight with Kokushibo, where he was able to hold off the High Rank for the entire battle without showing any signs of fatigue, despite the deep cuts he had sustained throughout his body. Even after Muzan had severed his leg, Gyomei was able to stand and continue fighting the Demon King. Incredible Strength: Gyomei possesses the highest level of physical strength in the entire Demon Slayer Corps. This is particularly evident when he effortlessly lifts and swings his massive, spiked chain and axe, made of pure iron, with speeds beyond the human eye, to repel Kokushibo's attacks. He has also been able to carry a massive boulder that was larger than himself through the city with his bare hands. Gyomei has also carried two massive logs with four large stones tied to them on his back with ease.

Heightened hearing: Due to his blindness, Gyomei compensated and alternated his senses to adapt to his condition, resulting in an extremely acute sense of hearing. His hearing was so keen that Gyomei could accurately perceive and interact with his surroundings, even engaging in high-speed battles with demons without any issues. Even more impressively, Gyomei was able to hear the sound of Muzan Kibutsuji's flesh regeneration during their brief confrontation, and he used this sound to determine that he was unlike any demon he had ever encountered. Later, during the battle with the First High Rank, Kokushibo noticed that Gyomei relied on the sound of his chains to determine their position and used this information to guide his axe and flail during combat.[ As seen in his conversation with Kokushibo about the Demon Slayer, Gyomei was able to accurately determine that he was lying by detecting subtle changes in the sound emitted by his body. Gyomei noted that he could hear him trembling when he revealed his deception.

Chain Hammer with Chains Niterin and Axe: Instead of a katana, Niterin Gyoumei uses a weapon similar to a kusarigama, consisting of an on (axe) attached to a tigiriki (hammer) with a massive iron ball on a chain. However, this weapon is forged from the same steel as the Niterin swords. His craftsmanship is particularly highly regarded, as he is made of pure iron that has absorbed so much sunlight that it is considered to be of even higher quality than the iron used to forge swords during the Sengoku period, when blacksmithing was at its peak. Even the holder of the highest rank, Kokushibo, was unable to cut through the chain and was forced to resort to long-range combat. As Kokushibo notes, this weapon is very well-designed: the vibrations created by the chain are detected by Gyomei's keen hearing, allowing him to accurately assess the space and movements around him, further enhancing the effectiveness of his weapon in combat. The handle of his axe is inscribed with the words "Demon Slayer" (惡あっ鬼き滅っ殺さつ, Akki Messatsu?).
