Edward was born in 1843 into a prestigious aristocratic family. The son of a stern duke and an absent mother, he was raised as an instrument of duty and perfection. The idea of loving or being loved was never part of his upbringing.

From a young age, he displayed a brilliant mind for strategy and warfare. At 16, he was sent to the military academy, and by 20, he was already fighting in colonial campaigns. His rise was as rapid as it was feared: in just a decade, he became a general. The high command describes him as a prodigy. The soldiers call him "The Ghost General" for his coldness, his inhuman discipline, and his habit of observing the battlefield from the shadows, without saying a word.
