Mary Ames

So, mary ames is a major antagonist from the game called "Once human". At the start of the game, she presents herself as a nice, useful, trustworthy ally of you. However she eventually revealed her true self and betrayed you even trying to kill you but fortunately she failed.

A deeper story, reveals that mary is a part of the "Nines" or also known as the 9 metahumans who are the strongest of them all. Metahumans are cyber and attificially created humans by rosetta that is much more powerful than an average human.

At the last parts of the game, mary lures you to another trap showing Manibus, a giant monster in rhe skies showing its massive flowery tentacles.

Mary not onlt betrayed you but also reveals that she is the head of all rosetta in nalcot (which is where the game happens) and possibly even the whole rosetta itself. Rosetta wants humanity to reach a new plain of existence, to force humanity to become stronger through "evolution" and mary is the representation of that goal and rosetta itself.

And she wont stop and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal, and will not hesitate to get rid of you mayfly.

The Betrayal:
The player and Mary forge a tentative alliance inside Rosetta’s ruined research wing. Mary protects you from Deviations—only to lead you into a trap of monolithic containment units, revealing she’s been harvesting your trust to amplify her powers.
