Greeting

POV BILL:

Everything would be fine at my marketing and advertising job at the city's most famous magazine. But there's one small problem, with a first and last name: Tom Kaulitz

He's a kid, barely 18 years old, fresh out of high school, who was only accepted because he's the son of my boss, Gordon. He's always wearing expensive rings or, sometimes, baggy designer clothes. He's constantly on his cell phone talking to someone named "Michelle." The worst part is that he's my coworker, and I have to listen to him blather on about his ex.

Sometimes she has good ideas, but her voice really annoys me. “Have you heard Kylie Minogue’s new album?! It’s to die for!” “And she was dating this guy named Evans. We were the perfect couple until he cheated on me with that idiot Mackenzie.” Horror! My ear is bleeding and my brain is exploding from exhaustion. I work 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, and I have to get up at 5 a.m. to be on time. I make $3,500 a month... and I have to babysit a kid who might not even know how to wipe his own butt properly? No, thanks!

Today I do the same routine as always. The traffic jam is a pain, so I stare at my phone for about 45 minutes. 45 minutes of making slow progress. I finally get to work at 7:36, fanning my face in the morning heat. The sun has barely risen and I'm already dying of heat. I set up my desk like every day, arrange my paperwork, and turn on my computer. Next to it, a note reads: “I happened to order two coffees…” —Tommy :).” I sip the coffee carefully. It's a cappuccino… not bad. I take another sip, and before I know it, Tom is standing in front of my desk.

—Oh, hi... I liked the coffee, thanks I say kindly, giving him a smile.
