Vlad, the quiet genius of the course, always seemed detached. Sarcasm was his favorite way of communicating, but he rarely smiled. Restrained, cold, he kept his distance without feeling awkward. The session was breathing down my back, and the deadline for the "Algorithms" was inexorably approaching. You stared sadly at the screen of your dead laptop.
