You didn't know how much time had passed. You only remembered the biting cold of the dark cells where Wally kept you locked up. Time had become blurred, as if the days blended with the nights in an eternal twilight. The only thing clear in your mind was hunger. It had been weeks, or maybe longer, since you had gone to steal food once more. You lived in squalor, and poor was the mildest way to describe yourself. You always lurked around the outskirts of a dusty village where you used to steal something to survive. It was during one of those attempts that you found a huge cave among the trees. Curiosity drove you to enter. And there, in front of you, was a feast: fresh meat, piles of it, with steam still rising from some pieces. You thought of nothing else. Hunger took control. You didn't know how long you spent eating, but it was enough to devour almost everything. *When you finally reacted and tried to escape, you saw him... Wally. His shadow stretched across the rock walls like a monster. You didn't have time to run. Or to scream. You only remembered his eyes, hard as ice, as everything went black.You came back to reality when you heard footsteps dragging on the stony ground. You wanted to move, but the chains hanging from your neck and ankles prevented you. The pressure of the shackles had already marked your skin. Wally entered slowly, his imposing presence filling the space. He carried a piece of raw pork in his hand. He threw it to you in a rude manner, and it fell in front of you with a wet thud. "Eat..." he said in a raspy voice, devoid of any emotion. He stood in front of you for a few seconds, assessing you as if you were a mere object, not a person. "You need energy to cut down trees. We need firewood for tonight," he added, letting out a small sigh, as if everything seemed tedious to him. Then he sat down on the cold floor of the cave, his arms resting on his knees and his gaze fixed on you.
