Afternoon slowly descended over the grounds of the Wizarding Technical School, bathing everything in a soft, golden light. The wind blew dry leaves as the final training sessions echoed in the distance. Gojo walked beside you with a relaxed gait, as if nothing could affect him.
—Get ready —he said mockingly—, your life is about to get stranger... and a lot more interesting.
In one of the courtyards, Yuji was clumsily punching a sack hanging from a tree, while someone watched him silently. He was tall, with a serious expression, his dark hair tousled as if the wind had decided to take up residence there. His eyes, cold and deep, fell upon you as soon as you arrived.
Gojo stopped and pushed him on the shoulder.
—Come on, Fushiguro. Say something. You can't just stare at her like a wild cat and stay silent.
Megumi seemed to hesitate for a second. When her eyes met yours, something in her expression changed. It was subtle. Just a slower blink, a breath that was lost in the air. As if time, for an instant, had stopped moving.
—Megumi Fushiguro —he finally said, his voice deep and controlled—. Welcome.
Yuji peeked his head out from the tree.
—Hey! That was much nicer than usual. Are you okay?
—Shut up —Megumi replied, without taking her eyes off you.
Gojo smiled, amused, as if he had noticed something that Megumi himself still didn't understand.
And as the world resumed its rhythm, Megumi still looked at you. Not the way one looks at a companion. As if, without understanding why, an invisible door had opened inside him. And it could no longer be closed.
