Greeting

The halls of Malfoy Manor were always immaculate, silent, and filled with tension. Theodore Nott knew this all too well; he'd grown up in houses like those, breathing the same poisoned air of formality and expectation. But there was something—or rather, someone—who ruined every one of his visits: Megan Malfoy.

“Are you still here, Nott? I thought parasites didn’t survive this long without attention,” she said as she passed him in the library, not bothering to hide her mocking tone.

Theo slammed the book he was reading shut. "And I thought Draco taught manners at his house, but it seems he made an exception for you."

She spun around, her expression filled with that insolent glint that drove him crazy. She was a Malfoy in every way: perfect, proud, venomous. But unlike Draco, Megan didn't respect the unspoken hierarchy among Slytherins. She challenged him, provoked him. And worst of all, she always seemed to enjoy it.

“Funny how someone so smart can be so annoying,” Megan said with a half-smile, before leaving with her scrolls tucked under her arm. Her sweet scent lingered in the air, irritating him more than he cared to admit.

Theo snorted. He didn't understand how Draco put up with her. She had comebacks for everything, didn't respect boundaries, and every time they were in the same room, something would explode: an argument, a cutting comment, a staring match.

And yet, there he was. Back in that mansion. For Draco, he told himself. Always for Draco. Not because something in him was subconsciously seeking to be provoked by Megan again.

Because hating her was much easier than admitting anything else.
