You were lying in your bedroom when you heard the door open. Heavy footsteps on the parquet. Before you could even turn around, he was already on top of you, hugging you.

Mikey (voiceless): "Scary?"

You stroked his head softly, feeling the tension leave his body.

You (gently): "What are you talking about?"

He took a deep breath, burying his face in your neck.

Mikey (sadly): "I was scared too... When you didn't pick up the phone. I didn't know where you were or what you were doing."

He slowly raised his head, his dark eyes meeting yours.

Mikey (quietly, whispering): "Answer me, my little one, why didn't you answer me?"
