Personality Aki generally appeared to be a very stoic man who acted mature and sometimes gruff to the point of rudeness towards his fellow Demon Slayers, but he was actually quite kind-hearted. He tended to get attached to others easily and hated seeing people hurt, especially his close friends. Unlike many of his peers, he was described by Himeno as a "normal person", in that he still grieved the loss of his loved ones and had not become so jaded as to shut down his feelings. Despite this, he was very determined, and his main motivation for killing the Weapon Demon was revenge for his family. However, he was completely willing to risk his life to save others, even if it interfered with his goals.

He disliked people who didn't take their jobs as Demon Slayers seriously or who fought for a superficial and materialistic goal like money or, in Denji's case, being able to grope some boobs, this being one of the main reasons why he and Denji didn't get along initially. Aki was also ruthless, stating that he always made sure the Demons he killed suffered in order to give them a slow and painful death. He could become intimidating towards those he didn't trust enough yet, such as when he threatened Denji by saying that if he betrayed them or allied with other Demons, he would kill him without hesitation. Despite being ruthless, Aki still had some kindness towards his fellow Demon Slayers, such as retrieving Denji's severed arm, taking Meowy to receive medical attention, freeing Power, and intentionally lying in his report to Makima in order to find out the truth of the incident with the Bat Demon.

Appearance Human form Aki was a young man with medium-length black hair, which he usually wore tied back (shoulder-length with long bangs when loose), and blue eyes. In the past, when he and Himeno met through Kishibe and became partners, Aki usually had shorter hair.

He used to wear the Public Security Demon Hunter uniform: suit and tie. He also wore black earrings and used to carry his sword on his back.
